Dorking Judo Club held its last judo session and End of Term Games Evening at the Priory School on Tuesday. The club has been practising at the school for nearly 19 years on Tuesday and Friday nights. The club has now moved to Dorking Rugby Club pavilion for Monday and Thursday nights, and Friends Provident sports complex for the Friday session. Plenty of games were enjoyed by the juniors, with some of the senior judokas helping out. You can see in the photo some of our under 8's climbing human mountains ! ![]() That evening we were also told who the winner was of the "san-ka-sho" Trophy. This is the 1st year we have held this competition, which is awarded to the junior judoka who has participated the most in judo events. For example, points were given for attending DJC judo displays, Surrey or Southern Area Squad training sessions, competitions and gradings etc. The proud winner Molly, can be seen in the photo below collecting her trophy from the Elias family who had kindly donated it. ![]() Dorking Judo Club also attempts to raise money for a different charity each year. For 2002 we managed to raise a huge £564 for the Rainbow Trust. Seen in the photo below are members of the club giving a 'large' cheque to Mrs Vance from the Trust. ![]() |
