Spirit of Judo Awards The Spirit of Judo award was shared this year by two people, Richard Farley and William Nicholson. Both juniors (although Richard has now progressed to the senior sessions) have shown the true spirit of judo this year, in the way in which they have contributed to all that goes on in the club. They have been present at the DJC displays, entered gradings and competitions, and have demonstrated fair play when practising with those much smaller than themselves. Two very worthy winners. The other DJC awards were won by; Luke Ramsey - Boys Champion Anna Johnston - Girls Champion Chlöe Cannon - Most improved "Under 8" Alex Shaw - Most improved "Under 8" (runner up) Elliot Taylor - Most improved "Beginner" Kimberley Bailey - Most improved "Beginner" (runner up) Henry Dean - Most improved "Graded" Thomas Iles - Most improved "Graded" (runner up) |

Games Evening The DJC Games Evening was a great success with lots of juniors turning up from all groups. There were plenty of Games with the old juniors being used as 'mountains' to climb ! Ynés arranged a special competition 'Heads & Tails' to raise money for the Rainbow Trust. At 50p a go, and lots of cheats on the mat, we eventually achieved our intention ... fun .. and .. fun..draising a total of £32.21 (not sure where the 21p came from!) This will be added to the money raised so far at earlier events this year. A cheque for the total amount will be presented to a representative of the Rainbow Trust at the end of the year. There was a short EGM after the Games Evening to discuss the future of the DJC. Many parents remained and discussed the clubs future. It is hoped another meeting will be held just before the new term starts again. |
