Millennium League Second Round The Team Elliot Taylor, Thomas Iles -30kgs. Robert Johnston -34kgs. Henry Dean -38kgs. Luke Ramsey -46kgs. Carl Pinion -55kgs. Anna Johnston -36kgs. Anna Johnston was the first to gain a medal winning bronze after four fights in a pool of five coming third in the pool. Thomas Iles and Elliot Taylor both competed in the u30kgs pools one of the largest. Elliot won one fight and Thomas won two putting Thomas into an eight person knockout. Unfortunately no medal this time, but some very good left handed techniques were starting to work. Robert Johnston did not have a good day, and could not progress in his pool against some very good players. Henry Dean won all three fights in his pool progressing to the knockout round but lost out to the eventual gold medal winner in his weight group, and due to it being an eight person knockout did not gain a medal this time. Luke Ramsey won the bronze medal in the -46kgs group after losing his first fight (he later went onto beat this player in the grading), but then winning his second and third fights with an Ippon throw then a Wazari throw followed by a Wazari hold. Unfortunately the other players were on top form so no silver or gold this time. Carl Pinion won the bronze in the -55kgs group after winning two out of three pool fights, he seems to be destined to meet the same people every time he competes. All in all a good day, all the players who took part gained points for thee club, and gained valuable experience against the day when they grade. |
